2 Gun Action Challenge Match 8-17-2013

2nd/4 Iron Sight Division
7/37 Overall

I decided to shoot this match with Iron sights to get some use out of my Hahn Precision BUIS.  I have not shot Iron sights only at a match in years.  Shooting with irons takes more work than a dot, but the Hahn BUIS’ low profile offers an uncluttered sight picture, which is nice for rapid target acquisition.

I also tried the TSD Combat Systems Kompressor muzzle device for the first time.  It has noticeably less dust signature than other muzzle devices I’ve used (see the 3rd stage throwing the kettle bell). I’ll have to try it on some close range hoser stages to get an idea of how fast I can run with it (the stages here are more accuracy centric due to limited round count or scoring on paper). It does have minimal muzzle jump and a recoil feels like more of a straight push back. Being effective and not throwing up a big cloud of dirt with each shot is a big advantage over other devices.

About SinistralRifleman

I've been competing in the action shooting sports since 2002. I believe competition shooting to be an excellent way to build gun handling and marksmanship skills and encourage all gun owners to seek out some form of competition shooting. Anyone can become reasonably good at it if they devote the time and resources to do so. Winning, while nice, need not be your goal; bettering yourself through the pursuit of excellence is something we all can achieve.
